In the Sandbox

If you want to help pull a friend out of the mire, don't hesitate to get a little dirty.
- Rabbi Israel ben Eliezer (the Baal Shem Tov)

In the Sandbox

In the sandbox
We call Life,
We build our castles.

The Ocean waves,
Appearing to be indifferent
To our passion
Dissolve our empires
With one sweep.

The child accepts
Reality without question;
In innocence
A better castle arises
In the wet sand.

Shams says:

“Attach not to the castle
But, rather attach
To the building,
The rebuilding,
The Grace of wave power.

Let your Light shine!”

Cat Shit

Cat Shit
Concupiscence: A Moral Dilemma

Cats learn early
To cover up their 'business'.
Leaving humans to think
Of more important matters
Than cleaning up cat shit.

But, the day inevitably arrives,
When Miss Feline discovers
Your houseplants.

You need not be surprised
That soil is more attractive
Than granulated deodorant.
Smell a sample of eachFor yourself.
Soil is rich with life;
The granules are sterile, perfumed, lifeless.
Cats are not dumb:
They are organic,
Dedicated to renewing with fresh manure
The genuine earth
Even ....When ....Imported.

Peace is Power

With blessings of light, of hope, of peace, of spirit--we bring not might, not power, but the Breath of Life.

- Rabbi Arthur Waskow

"Peace is Power"
Samuel Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti)

We have forgotten;
We have lost sight;
The goal Is Life,
Remember?

The Guide

If you have no eyes, do not walk blindly; take a staff in your hand.If you have no staff of insight,do not walk without a guide.-Rumi, "Mathnawi"

The Guide

Good News, Good News!!
You don't ever have to walk
Alone again.

Shams says:
Whisper it politely
So as not to startle the blind.
Shout it boldly
To All
Who can hear.

Who can hear?
Who would take
One Hundred Percent Responsibility
For the Whole Creation.

Shams says:
“It's a breeze ...
Merely take
One Hundred Percent Responsibilty
For
Yourself!”

This Breath, Door of my Heart,

This Breath, Door of my Heart,
Open wide,
I keep for Thee.

There will be no more breaths

All too soon
And I shall,On that last one,
Come to Thee,My Beloved One.

My Urs is Thine,To schedule,
Sweet, among my days.
For now, lead me to liveThy Fullness this day
That at last, I shall have no regrets
To leave this shell
To freely fly again.

Truly, this wedding is bliss
Beyond comparison's knowing.
Truly, weep not, for Shams;
He is walking with The Beloved One.

What a Good Person

“When you purify your hearts just as you purify your raiment, union with God will follow. You cannot become a Sufi by merely wearing coarse woolen shirts and following strict ritual, pretending to be pious while inside your hearts you bear malice and avarice. A real Sufi has attained a state of perfection on the inside. If you sincerely seek u
nion with God, then seek Him inside your hearts and leave the world alone.”
-Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani, “Fayuz E Yazdani”

What a Good Person

What a good person I am,
Even though I have sometimes fallen victim
To Love's fear.

By false evidence,
I convict my sister,
It is the progeny
Of my own fear.

How can I hold my brother
In Contempt,
When it is my own creation
Bred from my soul's deep fears?

When you see another way
You can choose another day
To be your presumptive future.

As for Shamsuddin,
I surrender to Love.
